Ever since I was a student taking a photography class, I have been absolutely in love with this photograph. It’s a very powerful image. A young sailor in New York’s Times Square the day the war ended, grabs some random girl and kisses her…and the moment is captured forever on film. No one knew who he was, no one knew who she was. They were just two strangers caught up in the exuberance of the moment and it looks as if it was one hell of a kiss.
The photograph was taken by Alfred Eisenstaedt and I found this image of it on Wikipedia, it does not belong to me and remains the property of Alfred Eisenstaedt.
