I’ve always had a fascination with the by-gone eras. Especially the fashion, hair and makeup. Periods such as the 20s, 40s, and 50s just seemed so much more filled with glamour. While fashion is like a rotating door in that it all comes back around, it’s never like it was the first time around. So, in this series I will be taking a look from a period or a movie set in a particular period and interpreting how I would translate it for today.
The 1920s are definitely back in style at the moment with the upcoming release of The Great Gatsby. Even the Vampire Diaries have done a couple of episodes set in the 20s – Didn’t Rebekah look amazing as a flapper? But all those sequins and the flapper dresses may be a bit much for now and you could run the risk of looking like you are going to a fancy dress party if you decked yourself out from head to toe. But the Bob haircut and crimson lips look amazing at anytime – it all adds a bit of drama.
